Opis

Jezus (Willem Dafoe) jest cieślą w okupowanej Judei. Współpracuje z Rzymianami, tworząc krzyże, na których ci wieszają żydowskich buntowników. Tymczasem Judasz Iskariota (Harvey Keitel), pierwotnie wysłany, by ukarać Jezusa za zdradę rodaków, dostrzega w nim jednak Mesjasza i nawołuje, by poprowadził swój lud przeciwko rzymskim oprawcom. Jezus się zgadza i wraz z uczniami zaczyna głosić Słowo Boże. Wkrótce zyskuje wielu zwolenników, sam jednak nie jest do końca pewien drogi, jaką powinien obrać.
